Taquavi (तकावी)

English

PeriodMedieval to Colonial Period Exam importanceMedium

Agricultural loans (Taccavi/Taqavi) advanced by the state to peasants, often interest-free, to purchase seeds, cattle or equipment or to recover from famine/crop failure — a recurring feature of both medieval and later colonial land-revenue administration.

Understand it like this

Taccavi loans continued in a modified form well into the British colonial period (formalised under the Land Improvement Loans Act, 1883, and Agriculturists' Loans Act, 1884) — historians trace a direct institutional continuity from medieval state paternalism toward peasants in crisis to colonial-era (and later, independent India's) agricultural credit policy.

कालMedieval to Colonial Period परीक्षा महत्वमध्यम
