The Chola Nataraja bronzes, created using the lost-wax casting technique, are widely considered among the greatest achievements of Indian metalwork, and the image's cosmic symbolism was powerful enough as an artistic and religious statement that a monumental Nataraja sculpture was installed at CERN, symbolically linking ancient Indian cosmology to modern particle physics.
