Unsolicited charitable gifts, donations, or offerings given voluntarily to Sufi hospices (khanqahs) by devotees.
Historical background
The futuh/nazr distinction (unasked gifts versus solicited ones) mattered a great deal within Sufi ethical codes — accepting solicited donations was often considered more spiritually compromising than accepting spontaneous, unasked charity, and different Sufi orders held quite different positions on how much material support a khanqah should actively seek versus passively accept.
