Understand it like this
A Sufi master's wilayat was understood as a genuinely real form of spiritual authority, not merely symbolic — believers sought a living pir's blessing specifically because of the spiritual power believed to reside within their particular wilayat, a belief system that also extended, through ziyarat, to the tombs of deceased saints.

वह आध्यात्मिक क्षेत्राधिकार, प्रदेश अथवा डोमेन, जिस पर एक सूफी गुरु (शेख़) आध्यात्मिक सत्ता रखता था।
