Fascism (फ़ासीवाद)

English

Period1920s–1945, Italy and elsewhere Exam importanceHigh

An authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology emphasising centralised dictatorial power, suppression of opposition, and often militarism — most notably implemented in Benito Mussolini’s Italy from 1922.

Understand it like this

Fascism is often confused with Nazism in casual usage, but the key distinction worth remembering for exams is that Italian Fascism under Mussolini centred on state power and national unity rather than the racial ideology that defined Nazism — Mussolini's antisemitic policies came later and were largely adopted under German pressure, not as a founding feature of Fascist ideology itself.

This comes up a lot in the exam
