Historical background
Harappan weight standardisation — built substantially from chert cubes following a consistent binary ratio system — is considered one of the strongest pieces of evidence for centralised or at least closely coordinated economic regulation across the vast geographic spread of the Indus Valley Civilization, from Gujarat to Punjab to Afghanistan.
