Jagati (जगती)

A raised stone platform or terrace upon which a temple complex is constructed, serving as an open circumambulatory path (pradakshinapatha).
Historical background
The jagati platform's elevation of the entire temple structure above ground level served both a practical function (protection from flooding and pests) and a symbolic one, physically separating sacred temple space from the ordinary ground level surrounding it.
