Gandhi-Irwin Pact (गांधी-इरविन समझौता)

A March 1931 agreement between Gandhi and Viceroy Lord Irwin, under which Gandhi agreed to suspend the Civil Disobedience Movement and attend the Second Round Table Conference, in exchange for the release of political prisoners and limited concessions on salt production.

The pact was controversial among some nationalists (including Subhas Bose) who felt Gandhi conceded too much by suspending the movement without securing full independence in return — worth knowing this wasn't universally celebrated as a straightforward nationalist win at the time.
