Itihaaskar is a one-person operation — not a large company with a data team, just someone who takes your information seriously because I'd want the same care taken with mine. This page explains what I collect when you visit itihaaskar.com or buy something, why I collect it, and what I do (and don't do) with it.
1. What I actually collect
I try to keep this to the minimum that lets me run the business properly:
- Your name and email, and a record of what you've bought — so I can get your downloads to you and help if something goes wrong.
- Payment details — handled entirely by my payment gateway (Knit Pay) and its providers. Your card or UPI number never actually touches my servers; the gateway deals with that securely and passes me only a confirmation that payment went through.
- Basic usage data — which pages you visit, roughly where from, what browser — the ordinary analytics info that shows me which notes people actually want more of.
- Anything you send me directly — an email, a WhatsApp message, a comment on Instagram, that kind of thing.
2. What it's used for
Mainly: getting you the notes you paid for, and being able to help if something's gone wrong with an order. Beyond that — sending you a receipt, replying to a support email, and (only if you've actually opted in) letting you know when new notes are out. I also use it to catch obvious fraud or abuse, and to keep whatever records tax law requires of me.
3. Cookies
The site uses cookies for the boring-but-necessary stuff — keeping you logged in, remembering what's in your cart, remembering whether you'd switched to Hindi. You're free to block cookies in your browser, but checkout specifically tends to break without them.
4. Who else sees your data
Nobody buys or sells your data here — that's not a business I'm in. The only people who ever see any of it are the services that actually keep the site running: the payment gateway, the hosting provider, the email service that sends your receipts. Each of them only sees the specific piece they need to do their job, or I share something because I'm legally required to.
5. Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS, and I follow reasonable security practices for a business this size. Order and tax-related records get kept for as long as the law requires; everything else, only for as long as I actually need it for the reasons above.
6. What you can ask me to do
You can ask to see what I have on file for you, ask me to correct or delete it, or unsubscribe from any marketing email with one click (the link's right there in the email). Just write in and I'll sort it out — within the limits of whatever I'm legally required to keep on record.
7. About age
These notes are built for UGC NET/JRF aspirants, who are, in practice, adults. I don't set out to collect information from children, and if I ever learn I have, I'll delete it.
8. If this policy changes
If I update this page, the "Last updated" date at the top will move. Carrying on using the site after that means you're fine with whatever changed.
